BlackGentry (“BlackGentry,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. BlackGentry is a members-only dating community designed for intentional and ambitious singles, and trust is central to our experience.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect your information when you use:

• The BlackGentry mobile applications (iOS and Android)

• Our websites and landing pages

• Any related communications, features, or services

(collectively, the “Services”)

By using the Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

2.   WHERE THIS POLICY APPLIES

This Privacy Policy applies to all Services operated under the BlackGentry brand.

If a specific feature includes a separate privacy notice, that notice will apply instead.

 

3.   INFORMATION WE COLLECT

3.1        Account and Profile Information

You may provide your name, gender, date of birth, location, profile photos, bio, interests, email address, phone number, and a selfie image for authenticity review.

Some information may be considered sensitive personal data in certain jurisdictions and is provided voluntarily.

3.2        Content You Share

We collect content you upload or transmit, including messages, media, feedback, and support communications.

3.3        Purchases and Payments

Subscription status and transaction records are stored.

Payments are processed by secure third-party payment processors.

BlackGentry does not store full card numbers.

3.4        Automatically Collected Data

When you use the Services, we collect usage activity, device identifiers, IP address, operating system, app version, advertising identifiers, cookies or SDK signals, and precise geolocation data including latitude and longitude coordinates when location permissions are granted.

You may disable location permissions in your device settings, though some features may not function properly.

3.5        Safety, Identity Verification, and Selfie Images

BlackGentry may request a selfie image to help confirm that a profile represents a real person and to support trust and safety.

Selfie images are manually reviewed by human moderators only.

BlackGentry does not use facial recognition technology.

BlackGentry does not perform biometric analysis, facial geometry extraction, or automated identity scanning.

BlackGentry does not create or store biometric identifiers or biometric information as defined under laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

Selfie images are retained only while the associated account remains active unless longer retention is required for safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

Selfie images are never sold, licensed, or used for advertising purposes.

3.6        Information From Third Parties

We may receive information from login providers, analytics or fraud-prevention vendors, advertising partners, and other users or safety organizations submitting reports.

 

4.   LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING (GDPR AND UK GDPR)

Where applicable, we process personal data under contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, legal obligations, and vital interests.

BlackGentry does not engage in solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on users without appropriate human review, where required by applicable law.

 

5.   HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We process personal information to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Services; process purchases and subscriptions; personalize features and marketing communications; protect the safety and integrity of the platform; and comply with applicable legal obligations, consistent with the legal bases described above. This includes using personal information to measure advertising effectiveness, deliver relevant promotions, perform marketing analytics, and understand how users interact with advertising or marketing campaigns, subject to applicable consent requirements and opt-out rights.

 

We may also use personal information for internal analytics, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, research, fraud prevention, and service improvement. Where appropriate, such analysis is conducted using aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify individual users.

To help maintain a safe and trustworthy community, we may use automated systems or machine learning tools to detect fraudulent activity, harmful behavior, spam, or potential violations of our Terms and Community Guidelines.

We may contact you to invite you to participate in optional surveys, testimonials, success stories, or research initiatives related to improving the Services. Participation is entirely voluntary, and choosing not to participate will not affect your access to or use of the Services.

We may also use personal information to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms and policies, and comply with applicable law. This may include responding to lawful requests from courts, regulators, law enforcement authorities, or other government bodies.

 

6.   HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not knowingly sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under applicable privacy laws, except as described in this Privacy Policy or with appropriate user consent and opt-out rights.

With Other Members:

Public profile information is visible within the app.

With Service Providers:

We share data with vendors providing hosting, analytics, payments, marketing, safety, and customer support services.

Service providers are contractually required to protect personal information, use it only for permitted business purposes, and maintain appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards.

Advertising and Targeting:

We or our partners may use cookies, SDKs, or pseudonymous identifiers to show relevant ads, measure performance, or build similar audiences.

Under certain U.S. laws, this may be considered sharing, selling, or targeted advertising.

You may opt out as described in Section 9.

Business Transfers:

Information may transfer during a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Legal and Safety Disclosures:

We may disclose information to comply with law, prevent harm, or protect rights and safety.

 

7.   CROSS-BORDER DATA TRANSFERS

Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries. Where required, safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are used. These safeguards are designed to ensure that personal data remains protected in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, withdraw consent, opt out of targeted advertising or sharing, avoid discrimination for exercising rights, appeal denied requests, and use an authorized agent.

9.   YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES (CPRA OPT-OUT RIGHTS)

You may request that BlackGentry not sell personal information, not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or limit use of sensitive personal information where required by law.

To exercise these rights, use in-app privacy settings if available or email contact@blackgentryapp.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.”

 

10.        DATA RETENTION

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for service operation, safety and fraud prevention, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.

Typical retention periods include:

Voluntary account deletion: up to a 3-month safety window

Banned accounts: up to 5 years

Transaction records: up to 10 years

Technical logs: up to 2 years

Consent records: up to 5 years

Selfie images are retained only while the related account remains active unless longer retention is legally required.

BlackGentry does not retain biometric identifiers.

Anonymized data may be retained indefinitely.

 

11.        COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies and SDKs to remember preferences, analyze usage, and support advertising and measurement.

Where required, consent is obtained before non-essential tracking.

 

12.        CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

BlackGentry is strictly for adults age 18 and older.

Accounts identified as minors are removed.

 

13.        SECURITY

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption, access controls, monitoring, and fraud-detection systems.

No system is perfectly secure, but protections are continuously improved.

 

14.        CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice and an updated version posted on our website.
